Hello, World! And a special hello to the friends, family, and co-workers who have encouraged me to post about my theater adventures and share some of the fun data visualizations I created (including the relevant data and code for those interested in such things).

I saw 122 shows during the 2024 calendar year. Approximately one every three days!
I mostly saw musicals (96 to be precise!), performances that rely upon song and dance to tell a story.
But I also saw plays (24), where a plot is conveyed mainly through dialogue.
And I even sprinkled in a couple (literally 2) other performances (e.g., a magic show because it was in off-Broadway theaters).
Perhaps unsurprisingly since I work during the day, most of the shows (90) I saw were evening performances.
But I also saw a number of afternoon performances (32 ‘matinee’ shows)
Many performances I saw were actually of the same show; for example, I saw the musical comedy & Juliet 8 times!

You’ll see the same numbers a few times because I saw many shows multiple times!
